AUDITIONS
Singers
Opera New Brunswick welcomes inquiries from those interested in auditioning for upcoming performances. ONB strives to promote and engage singers who have a connection to New Brunswick; however, we welcome submissions from other emerging Canadian singers. We do not currently hold nationwide auditions.
Applicants may submit their Headshot, CV, bio, and a recent recording with at least three contrasting arias to: Christopher Lane, Executive Director, PO Box 6671, Saint John, NB E2L 4S1.
Received materials will be filed and applicants will be notified by e-mail if they are granted an audition.
Opera New Brunswick Chorus
The Opera New Brunswick Chorus (ONBC) has an important impact on the high quality of ONB's productions and our choice of repertoire. The chorus is made up of talented local singers with a variety of training backgrounds and experience. Adults of all ages, the choristers include community singers, aspiring professionals, and vocal students. Former Chorus Members have gone on to perform secondary roles in ONB productions.
Auditions for the Opera New Brunswick Chorus are held as the need arises. If you are interested in becoming a part of the ONBC, please email us with your name, contact information and previous experience. Ad hoc auditions can be scheduled in coordination with the Executive Director and prospective chorus members.
Supernumeraries
Not all of the performers on stage with Opera New Brunswick are singers. Many operas require a wide range of dedicated individuals to participate as non-singing extras. These extras, known as supernumeraries ("supers") play many roles such as servants, soldiers or party guests and help to fill out crowd scenes.
This is an exciting diversion from everyday life, and a chance to see and hear opera from a unique perspective.
If you are interested in becoming a super with the ONB, please contact us and send a photograph of yourself with some basic measurements and previous experience.
